Sanding and Staining Pine Planking in York
This was a large project we tackled during the beginning of November. Situated in the southern part of York County, this rustic bungalow with exposed pine planking was showing its age. The Brushwork Painter team began by erecting 3 sections of scaffolding to reach the peak of the ceiling. And then we sanded every plank and beam, removing old worn stain and discoloration. The wood refinishing process took 3 passes with the orbital sanders and then a final pass by hand to get all the detail areas. Next, we applied a coat of sanding sealer to ensure a smooth and even top coat. Finally, we brushed a custom mixture of stain and polyurethane onto the planks and beams, completing the wood transformation.
The final result is now an amazing great room. Instead of the dark and dingy feel of before, the planking and beams are evenly-finished with a light tone that makes the room feel even larger and more open. It is the ultimate finish for such a great room. The Brushwork team really outdid themselves on this one, clocking nearly fifty hours in sanding and preparation work alone and another 50 providing the custom wood finishing touches.
